Liv.e and Karriem Riggins have unveiled another song from their album as GENA. “Lead It Up” is ambient soul with Liv.e’s soft voice asking a lover to meet her halfway. In the video she walks through downtown Los Angeles while Karriem meets up with a couple of friends who argue about the importance of shea butter to Black women. GENA stands for God Energy Naturally Amazing and the name is also inspired by Gina from the TV show Martin. The singer from Texas and drummer from Detroit have found an artistic fit with each other and their album, The Pleasure Is Yours, is slated for a February 27th release via Lex Records. They will make their live debut January 30th in London at ICA with special guest B-Cool Aid (Pink Siifu and Ahwlee) and a DJ set from Shungu.
