Fans of Shonda Rhimes’s Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal TV shows are aware of the rare usage of Prince music in two recent episodes after his April 21st passing. Rhimes spoke with Rolling Stone about the process of getting Prince songs for the show, her lifelong admiration for him and last seeing him at The White House. Prince performed for a small audience in the White House one particular night was joined onstage by Stevie Wonder. Rhimes was one of the lucky attendees of the show and she talks about having used Prince’s “Controversy” single for an earlier episode of Scandal and receiving his approval and him calling himself a gladiator like one of the characters working alongside Kerry Washington’s Olivia Pope.
