Detroit Techno pioneer Jeff Mills aka The Wizard relaunches Apple’s One Mix series with music recorded with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. Apple Music sees Spatial Audio as the next step in their growth and fans have responded well to the technology that immerses the listener in multi-dimensional sound. Jeff Mills’s hour-long mix is titled Outer to Inner Atmosphere: The Escape Velocity Mix. Mills started his career on Detroit radio in the ’80s as The Wizard. He went on to co-found Underground Resistance and soon was in New York City with a residency at Club Twilo during the ’90s. His Axis Records label became a platform for solo career that has birthed the techno blueprint. In 2015 he formed the Spiral Deluxe jazz fusion band. He later worked with the late Tony Allen on collaborations that morphed into the Tomorrow Comes The Harvest project with other artists. Mills was recognized by the French government for his contributions to the arts in 2007 and was given the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters and then later upgraded to the title of Officer in 2017.
