Mayer Hawthorne has used his isolation the past two weeks to share rare music with his fans on his YouTube channel. On Thursday evenings at 6PM Pacific time he hosts his Wine & Vinyl Hour which has fans delighted at spending some time with him outside of his music. This week he and Jake One posted the demo of a song called “How We Do.” They had planned to include it on the Tuxedo II album but they lost the original and could not recapture the feeling it had. Stream the recreation and make a reminder for the next session of the Wine & Vinyl Hour.

Hawthorne’s introspective R&B replaces the uptempo funk tunes he crafts with Jake One for their Tuxedo band.”The Great Divide” finds Hawthorne singing about critical matters of heart and an unavoidable separation. The new album is called The Game and it’s coming out soon. Watch the official video for the title track below.

The duo continues to sonically hold the torch for ’80s funk and R&B with their Tuxedo band. Astrology and New Age philosophy is at the core of the attraction between two people on “Vibrations.” Their third album has guest spots from MF Doom, DāM-Funk, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, Leven Kali, Battlecat, Benny Sings, Parisalexa and Gavin Turek. Tuxedo III becomes available July 19th. Catch them on tour this summer.
