Throwback: Trina-Da Baddest B***h

Trina’s introduction as “Da Baddest B***h” in 2000 was preceded by her popular “Nann Nigga” collaboration with Trick Daddy in 1998. Trina came from Lil’ Kim’s school of bawdy lyrics and scantily clad braggadocio. She let everyone know that she was an artist outside of her work with Trick Daddy. Trina’s rap about conquering a successful man with a sample of Michael Jackson’s “Bad” made her sound like a hip-hop superhero.  It was a strong start for her solo career and she was on her way to becoming the only woman to represent southern rap and Florida longer than any other paving the way for the City Girls. Nineteen years after its release, Trina’s “Da Baddest B***h” and its video which featured former NFL player Warren Sapp, have stood up as legendary moments in southern rap. In 2019, Trina released her sixth studio album The One.

Barbee-Come See About Me Feat Trina

(UNITED STATES) June 23, 2011- USA! Meet Barbee! Barbee is an international songstress who has dominated the Reggae/Dancehall charts of the Caribbean for over four years. Following her extraordinary success in the Caribbean, Barbee has now spread her wings and released her single “Come See About Me” in the US. This charismatic single is a mesmeric track that envelops its listener with infectious vibes and flirtatious undertones. To complete the anthem, Barbee enlisted the “The Most Consistent Female Rapper of All-Time,” -XXL, Slip & Slide Recording artist Trina. Together they blend into a rooted musical force, with the uncompromising delivery of Trina counterbalanced by the “evry-ting pretty” sound of Barbee.

The Jamaican/Nigerian Dancehall phenomenon chose to remake the American classic of Diana Ross & The Supremes, “Come See About Me”. This rendition is filled with animated lyrics and updated innovations that make this single fresh, exciting and one that you would want to hear often. The upbeat tempo while sexy and sultry, gives you just a hint of a nursery rhyme fused with a syncopated rhythm.

The video is directed by BenMac and produced by BenMac Entertainment and Rare Diamond Productions. The coquettish, very colorful, dress-up video tells the story of a day at Barbee’s Car Wash. Boss Barbee entices her customers as she details their cars. The “girl-power” is in full effect as Boss Trina engages the song with more primal lyrics, warning those who dare come, to come correct.

This single and video follows the many number one hits that Barbee has had on the Reggae charts. In her global career, releases such as “Missing You” with Junior Kelly; “Patty Cake” featuring Bennie Man; and “Love You Anyway”; amongst others has established her as a credible, worldwide recording artist.

Recently Barbee recently released her smash single “Feel So Good” produced by Dean Fraser, which was featured in the movie “House Arrest” starring Stacey Dash and The Game. Barbee’s video for “Feel So Good” captured Video of the Year 2010 from the EME Awards. This budding globe trekking star is a proclaimed force in the Reggae music genre. Barbee states, “I am so happy to have the opportunity to release my music in the United States. I have been blessed and so well received by the Reggae Community, whom I Love. Now, I dream about being accepted in the Pop World as well.” Barbee has always been noted for her unique approach to lyric interpretations and this new release readily demonstrates that.
