MxNxSTxR (Ty Dolla $ign & DESTRUCTO) Release What You Need Feat. Thundercat & Channel Tres

MxNxSTxR is a side project from Ty Dolla $ign and EDM music maker DESTRUCTO. The duo just dropped “What You Need,” featuring Thundercat and Channel Tres. The party tune adds a late-night vibe to the atmosphere and is a follow-up to “All Of Me,” which was released in 2022. The concept for MxNxSTxr launched during the pandemic in 2020 and the result was “All Of Me,” which was noticed with half a million streams from their collective fanbase. ‘What You Need” taps Thundercat’s falsetto for a soulful infusion next to Channel Tres’ verse. So far it looks like they are having fun and there is no plan for a full-length project but until then, “What You Need” will keep them in good with the dance music crowd.

Thundercat & Tame Impala’s No More Lies Limited Vinyl Release

Thundercat and Tame Impala’s “No More Lies” is going to be released on limited edition 7″ vinyl. The single which came out three months ago was the first time the duo worked together in more than three years. The harshly honest track about being a selfish and less-than-ideal partner has Thundercat’s dark humor and is the sum of both artists’ expansive jazz fusion and pop worlds. The announcement of the vinyl single comes just days before Thundercat’s In Yo Girl’s City Tour which kicks off August 27th right after his appearance at the Newport Jazz Festival on August 5th. The tour has dates in North and South America and tickets are available via Thundercat’s official site. The “No More Lies” special vinyl release can be pre-ordered now before the September 29th release date.

Listen: Thundercat & Tame Impala-No More Lies

Thundercat and Tame Impala have collaborated on the smooth and semi-spacey “No More Lies.” The first new song from Thundercat in three years glides into the atmosphere with galactic synthesizer spears. There are faint echoes of Weather Report-style fusion underneath and Thundercat’s vocals always reveal his devotion to George Duke. The truth of “No More Lies” is in the lyrics where he admits to his ex that their failed relationship was the result of his dreadful that he laughingly attributes to being a Los Angeles native. The connection with Tame Impala was long desired as he states,

“I’ve wanted to work with Kevin since the very first Tame Impala album. I feel that I knew that us working together would be special. I’ve been excited about this song for a long time and hope to create more with Kevin in the future.”

Thundercat’s “No More Lies” is available on all the usual platforms.
