Colours Of The Culture just completed the fourth episode (Tamahmgiso) of season 2 for their Youtube docu-series that goes behind the scenes of hip-hop. Talib Kweli, Shock G and Schoolly D have appearances in the latest episode filmed in Philadelphia. Kweli’s frequent collaborator Niko IS and producer Thanks Joey started the series two years ago. The unscripted look is a deliberate technique designed to capture the artists being vulnerable and spontaneous. In the current clip, Shock G proves that he is still a B-Boy, Schoolly D performs and Talib Kweli hangs out and enjoys the night. Dave Chappelle and Yasiin Bey appeared in a past episode that added to the Black Star reunion fever had by fans.

The five and half minutes visual looks at working class struggles and the ongoing problem with the police taking innocent lives. Talib Kweli appears briefly at the beginning and there quick sightings of Common, M1 and Immortal Technique. Radio Silence is Talib Kweli’s eighth album. 

It’s been 20 years since Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli emerged as Black Star and they are coming full circle to reunite and release a new album this year. Yasiin Bey made the announcement in Denver, Colorado this past weekend during a Madlib DJ set.  Reddit uploaded the audio from the show and Bey can be heard telling the audience that the new project is “coming soon.”

He performed “Heads Up Eyes Open” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with Rick Ross and Yummy Bingham. Kweli recently got into a heated Twitter chat with professional poker players who are fans because of their belief that Kweli’s lyrical content is “obnoxious” and not the reason that people listen to his music. The rapper, who has built a 20-plus year career based on his political viewpoints explained that the choice to depoliticize his music is racist.
