Beyoncé was a big winner at the Soul Train Awards taking home honors for Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Collaboration. Tems won for Best New Artist and Jermaine Dupri presented the Lady of Soul Award to Xscape. Morris Day & The Time were among some of the best performers during the evening’s lineup, including Ari Lennox, Chante Moore and Xscape. They also received the Legend Award. Soul Train Awards 2021

The Soul Train Awards took place Sunday night at The Apollo Theater in New York City. Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell opened and hosted the show for the fourth time. H.E.R. had the most nominations (eight) and Chris Brown came in second place with seven. Maxwell received the Legend Award and performed some of his music. Ashanti took home the Lady Of Soul Award and she gave a performance of her hits. Bruno Mars and anderson.paak’s Silk Sonic won Video Of The Year, the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award and Song Of The Year for “Leave The Door Open.” Jazmine Sullivan won Album Of The Year for Heaux Tales. Summer Walker, Ari Lennox and Lucky Daye were among the performers. Cassidy’s Pass The Mic  had appearances from Gloria Gaynor, Stephanie Mills, Cherrelle and more. DJ Cassidy Presents Pass The Mic The Soul Train Edition

DJ Cassidy presented his Pass The Mic show in conjunction with the Soul Train Awards last night. This edition paid tribute to some of his musical heroes from the ’80s. A section of some of the era’s greatest artists joined him remotely to sing along with his DJing of their song. Jody Watley, Deniece Williams, Morris Day and Jerome Benton of the Time, Shannon, George Clinton, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Alicia Myers, Chaka Khan, Lisa Lisa, Melvin Riley of Ready For The World, Shelia E., Larry Blackmon and Willie Morris of Cameo and El DeBarge all participated and sang one of their classic songs.Â
