British R&B singer Elmiene rolls out his newest single “Mama.” The confessional track was co-written and produced by Sampha. Elmiene’s vulnerable quest for unconditional love from his mother is woeful and honest in its tone. His plea for love as an imperfect son comes after “Mad At Fire” which was released earlier in the summer. Pierre Girardin photographed the shots for the “Mama” visualizer that features Elmiene singing in a creek The budding artist’s debut EP El-Mean came out this past spring. He will be going on a tour of North America in the fall with stops in Toronto, New York and Los Angeles. 

[youtube id=”jpEfKCMWMH8″] Sampha won the 2017 Hyundai Mercury Prize for his debut album Process in his native Britain. His performance of “(No One Knows Me) Like The Piano” is already considered one of the best to take place a the award’s ceremony. Sampha beat the competition that most famously included Ed Sheeran and nine other artists. Idris Elba presented him with the award and he humbly thanked his late parents.

[youtube id=”3vieZvOK-yU”] Sampha was on the bill at Glastonbury this year and he performed a cover of Solange’s “Cranes In The Sky” at the BBC tent. He also worked on her Grammy-winning A Seat At The Table.
