The images are a rundown of things that have happened this year with the duo’s usual criticism of the system. Artist Winston Hacking shared the video’s concept in a statement: 

“I worked closely with Run The Jewels to create a satirical time-capsule of 2020 thus far, capturing the sentiment of their song using collage animation. Drawing on the influence of Public Enemy’s classic ‘Shut ‘Em Down’ video, we combined cut up images from contemporary and historical events into a psychedelic protest vignette, a visual fuck you to systemic racism.”

Run The Jewels and Hacking’s collaboration take on capitalism, President Trump, racism and  America’s history of slavery with endless images that create an overview of the country’s current state. 

Killer Mike and El-P have released RTJ4 two days early. In the midst of all the social unrest in the country now the duo said, “Fuck it, why wait the duo wrote explaining the early release. The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there.” Pharrell, Mavis Staples, Zach De La Rocha, 2Chainz and more are on the album. Killer Mike gave a speech to the protesters in Atlanta last weekend and he also discussed the uproar over the George Floyd shooting on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. RTJ4 can be streamed from the usual sources and downloaded for free from their website. 

[youtube id=”Sff7Kc77QAY”] Run The Jewels see a new world without class restraints in their video for “Ooh LA LA” featuring Greg Nice and DJ Premier. The people shed their currency and dance in the streets as Killer Mike and El-P walk through the crowds. “Ooh LA LA” debuted on the season finale of Netflix’s Ozark. The duo shot the video just a few weeks before the outbreak of the pandemic. They are giving away activity books to help fans get through the quarantine.  

Killer Mike has made his endorsement of Senator Vincent Fort for mayor of Atlanta on Twitter today. Mike also interviewed Fort on his Talking Shop show and questioned Fort about education, decriminalizing marijuana and gentrification. The conversation is divided into five parts and the first two can be viewed below.
