Robin S. Crystal Waters & CeCe Peniston Perform At Black Girls Rock 2019!

[youtube id=”MBIn10F5frE”]Robin S., Crystal Waters and CeCe Peniston performed their signature house classics at Black Girls Rock! The rare sighting had the audience on their feet and singing along as the three dance divas brought the ’90s back. DJ Coca Chanelle hyped the crowd before the ladies took the stage. The cross-generational audience seemed to lip-sync the words to “Show Me Love,” “Gypsy Woman” and “Finally” with the excitement of having been there when the songs were new. All three of the ladies looked great and sounded timeless.

Robin S’s “Show Me Love” was an instant triumph of pop and culture when it debuted in ’93. The Queens, New York singer signed a deal with Big Beat Records that same year when they were known strictly for house music. The song was the first of three number one hits that also included, “Luv 4 Luv” and “What I Do Best.” The chart positions of those songs and their ubiquitous presence with the public made her able to join the rare ranks of dance music artists who had successful albums. Her second album, From Now On, also did well and had the input of veteran dance music producers Todd Terry and Eric “E-Smoove” Miller. Together they graced the charts and clubs again with “It Must Be Love” and “Midnight.” “Show Me Love” has been remixed countless times and was most recently sampled by Jason Derulo. Robin S still performs at various dance music events around the world and keeps her fans informed via Twitter.
