Red Bull Presents True Notes Event In Philadelphia

Red Bull is presenting a True Notes event with Okayplayer in Philadelphia. Chicago R&B singer and activist Jamila Woods is the headliner for the night. Singer-songwriter Mereba, singer and producer Amber Mark and DJ Jasmine Solano will perform at the show which takes place on December, 6th at Warehouse On Watts. The night is inspired by the Black Lily Music series created by Mercedes Martinez, Rich Nichols and Tracey Moore in 1999 as a weekly event. The series helped launch careers for Jill Scott, Floetry and Jaguar Wright.

True Notes is also a celebration of Okayplayer and its impact on the Philadelphia music scene and the world of music blogging. The website was founded in 1998 by Questlove and Angela “Stress” Nissel. The official anniversary for the site is February 23, 1999, which is the same day The Roots released their fourth album Things Fall Apart. Tickets for the event can be purchased from Red Bull.
