Rakim: Tiny Desk Concert

Rakim’s Tiny Desk concert band included Ali Shaheed Muhammad on bass and Adrian Younge on keyboards. The legendary emcee just appeared in Season 2 of Luke Cage performing “King’s Paradise” that was written by Muhammad and Younge. Rakim’s three-song set starts with “King’s Paradise” and he finishes with “Paid In Full” and “Know The Ledge.” The band’s jazz chops provided the perfect accompaniment to Rakim’s unshakeable cool.

Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad produced the song that is one of the season’s surprises. Rakim was also included in the will.i.am and Marvel comic book Masters Of The Sun last year. 

Eric B. & Rakim Perform 30th Anniversary Show At The Apollo

Flavor Flav, Special Ed, Roxanne Shante, EPMD, Kool Herc, Ice-T, Main Source and Fat Joe were special guests. Watch the performances of ” I Know You Got Soul,” “My Melody,” and  “I Ain’t No Joke.”

Eric B. & Rakim Will Celebrate 30th Anniversary Of Paid In Full With Reunion Concert

Thirty years ago Eric B. and Rakim released their seminal Paid In Full album. The recording was one of the first to bring the New York City street aesthetic to the world. Rakim revealed himself to be one of the few rappers to have immediate “God” status because of the cool delivery of his scientific but soulful rhymes. Paid In Full is one of the cornerstones of the Golden Era and it still inspires and moves the crowd. The duo is going to have a reunion show at the Apollo on July 7th, the exact release date three decades ago. They talked about the reunion show on the Ebro In The Morning Show and also offered their respect to Prodigy.
