The Sound Board @ Motor City Casino lived up to its name last night by hosting the vocal majesty that is Rachelle Ferrell. Despite a popular female heckler that drove a few audience members away, the Soundboard’s acoustics complimented Rachelle’s brilliant, soulful range, allowing each note to be heard without any distractions. “I Can Explain” was one song in a night that was one part jazz and one part soulful R&B that lead to a deep spiritual moment, where the singer spoke about the passing of her dear friend George Duke. She gave thanks to Detroit legend Aretha Franklin for paving the way for singers like her. And she also acknowledged Detroit legends Anita Baker, The Winans and The Clark Sisters. The night ended with her leading the audience in sing-a-long, that consisted of the men singing a few words to the women and the women singing back to the men. Fans will be happy to know she is 75 percent done with her CD, The Art and Soul Of Rachelle Ferrell.
