Quelle Chris: Guns Album Stream

Quelle Chris’ shares his new album Guns after giving a preview with the video for “Obamacare.” Guns has calm moments like the “Box Of Wheaties” collaboration with Denmark Vessey but things can quickly change and Chris has the arrogance of a gangsta rapper on the instructional “Mind Ya Bidness.” He explains,

Guns is an arsenal of sounds, styles, and subjects, the words we say, what we fear, how we love, how we live, what we ingest, what we believe in, who we idolize, shit like that.”

Chris’ Guns follows last year’s Everything Is Fine with wife Jean Grae.

Quelle Chris Unveils Video For Obamacare

[youtube id=”L-F19d5PcJY”]Quelle Chris reveals the video for “Obamacare” from his upcoming Guns album. Chris stated that “Obamacare is an homage to many of my favorite PBS, Sesame Street shorts with a touch of Terry Gilliam.” The moving collage uses old magazines and animation to tell its story which was completely created and edited by Chris. As for the song’s title Chris says, “I’d like to think of my music as free healthcare for all.” Guns will be available March 29th.

Jean Grae & Quelle Chris:My Contribution To This Scam Official Video

[youtube id=”pRw3ZHYY9pc”]Jean Grae and Quelle Chris share the video for their foggy sounding critique of the hip-hop industry “My Contribution To This Scam.” The video is a cartoon and they are comical-looking figures who spend a day at home doing a bunch of things like calling a psychic hotline. Grae’s dry wit pokes fun at people’s obsession with social media and Chris takes a jab at those who only write bars for barcodes. Everything Is Fine is a sardonic reflection of mainstream life in America during the Trump era.

Lando Chill: Peso Feat. Quelle Chris & REY

Lando Chill’s unconcerned rhyme flow matches well with The Lasso’s hazy production, Quelle Chris and REY on his new single “Peso.” The song will be on his upcoming third album Black Ego. The Chicago native who currently resides in Los Angeles explained the intentions behind the sound of “Peso” in a press release:

Lasso and I set out to create a soundscape that could be the canvas for both our southwest border influence & midwest origins, nestled between the experience of living as a person of color in a police state & the caution one must inherit in order to feel safe in a country that has yet to fully accept nor understand equality. The hood is as much the “frontline” as the border & reservations, as they all have been militarized against & oppressed by our government; through legislation, perception, & abhorrent action. Quelle Chris & Rey from Ojalá Systems round out the narrative; creating a kaleidoscope of wisdom & wariness that precedes what it means to be a person of color battered by the wage gap within the police state in which we reside.”

Lando Chill’s Black Ego comes out October 12th.Â
