On November 19, 2017, the section of Linden Boulevard in Queens, New York where A Tribe Called Quest filmed their “Check The Rhime” video will be renamed Malik Phife Dawg Taylor Way. TThe late rapper’s family will unveil the street sign to the public that was initially mentioned in August. The area where the sign will be posted is also host to a mural of A Tribe Called Quest. Taylor’s wife, Deisha Head Taylor commented on the event and said, “The thought of having Linden Boulevard at 192, renamed to Malik ‘Phife Dawg’ Taylor is indescribable. This is a perfect representation of who Malik was, and what Queens meant to him.  Whenever he mentioned Queens, Linden Boulevard at 192, was a focal point of reference, so I am certain he would be pleased with having it renamed in his honor.” A new album from A Tribe Called Quest is expected in the near future.

This week Illa J posted about the Potatohead People-produced song and shared a snippet of it on his Facebook page. He also announced that the version of “French Kiss” with Phife is available now from Smokin’ Needles in limited edition blue and orange vinyl with “Nutshell” and an alternate version of “Dear Dilla.”
