Throwback: Snoop Dogg-Drop It Like It’s Hot Feat. Pharrell

[youtube id=”RaCodgL9cvk”]Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” is one of hip-hop’s biggest songs and it gave Snoop his first number one on two charts. The Neptunes produced “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and used some of Laidback’s “White Horse” in the production. Pharrell shares vocals with Snoop and appears in the Paul Hunter-directed video. The clip is most remembered for Snoop’s Crip-walking even though the blue bandana was censored and all of the dancing women. Since then, younger fans have become acquainted with the dance from the Fortnite video game. The Neptunes’ Star Trak Entertainment label released R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece which was Snoop Dogg’s seventh album. The music is one of the many successful collaborations between Snoop and Pharrell who had a hit one year earlier with “Beautiful.” Their work on “Drop It Like It’s Hot’ created a party record that has already outlived its 14-year old status to dazzle another generation of hip-hop fans. Snoop Dogg released his first gospel album, Bible Of Love in the Spring of 2018 and it debuted on the Gospel charts at number one. He is currently the subject of Je’Caryous Johnson’s musical Redemption Of A Dog.
