R&B singer Tave’s newest single, “BLOCK,” features rapper IDK and Philly veteran Musiq Soulchild. Tave shares some of life’s contradictions with a coolness amplified by the company of his collaborators. The message is not to always assume you know what’s real from a surface observation. Their collective effort is next-generation hip-hop soul. The single is included on his upcoming Fly Away EP that has appearances from Stacy Barthe, India Shawn, Bibi Bourelly, Kenyon Dixon, and more. Marsha Ambrosius and Willie Hyn have guest appearances on the album as well as Soulchild’s rap alter ego The Husel. “Start Over” is a song about rehashing love a second time with an old lover and the video shows him courting his lady love around town. Feel The Real will be released September 16th and can be pre-ordered now.

Musiq Soulchild’s “Simple Things” has the timeless feeling of the R&B he debuted at the beginning of his career. He wrote the song and J.Troy produced the sentiment about never taking small gestures of love for granted. “Simple Things” is from his forthcoming ninth studio album following 2016’s Life On Earth. Musiq is the headliner for the Nu Soul Revival Tour kicking off tonight in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Memorial Auditorium at DPAC. Kindred The Family Soul, Avery Sunshine, The Foreign Exchange and Lyfe Jennings are also on the bill with Musiq.
