Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May also known as The Belleville Three will reunite for Movement in Detroit 2017. The three Detroit techno pioneers started making music when they attended Belleville High School.  Their electronic sound was championed by legendary Detroit DJ The Electrifying Mojo and was heard in clubs like The Music Institute. Detroit techno spread and became internationally recognized and copied by countless artists.

The three of them have not performed together since 2010 at the Awakenings Festival in the Netherlands. Saunderson recently rebooted his E-Dancer moniker and released new music. May presented his music with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at Chene Park in 2015. And Atkins had an after party for Kraftwerk two years ago when they made a rare Detroit appearance.

Detroit’s Movement Electronic Music Festival will take place May 27-29 2017 and tickets are on sale now.

On May 28, 2016, from 11 am to 8 pm at  Mix Bricktown in Detroit, Girls Gone Vinyl will celebrate 10 years with an anniversary party and fundraiser to benefit a young female artist. Girls Gone Vinyl is an all-female DJ collective founded by and promoter Maggie Derthick of Auxetic and years later joined by . The collective seeks to empower female artists in the male-dominated electronic music industry and provide an opportunity for female DJs and other music insiders to connect. Movement Festival forms an integral part of the history of Girls Gone Vinyl as the collective originated as all-female DJ night organized by Maggie Derthick each year since 2006. Over the years, Girls Gone Vinyl has expanded to include a documentary project of the same name, now in the final stages of production with a release expected in 2016. For the past few years during Movement, Girls Gone Vinyl events have also shifted focus towards fundraising, with the goal of providing scholarships to DJ school at Music Industry Academy for young female artists. The event will also feature a screening of select scenes from a documentary of the same name. Last year’s fundraiser raised enough money to send one young artist to Sessions 1 and 2 at Music Industry Academy. Jada Tabbs debuts as DJ007 at this year’s event. Tickets for the anniversary party are $10, and proceeds will again provide a scholarship for a young artist to enroll at Music Industry Academy.
