Mick Jenkins worked with co-directors Nathan R. Smith and Sebastian Sdaigui for the “Get Up Get Down” video which features young hip-hop dancers from a local Chicago school. Jenkins goes on tour in support of his Wave [s] album in two weeks.

Mick Jenkins’s Wave [s] mixtape officially comes out August 21st but NPR posted a stream of it today. The Chicago rapper is proving to be a standout among the sea of Chicago rappers with his intelligent style and open honesty. Wave [s] uses water as its theme and he explores relationships, partying and the art of his craft.

Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins became the next rapper from his region to watch after the release of his 2013 Trees and Truths mixtape. The Water[s] project came out last year and it achieved more acclaim for him among online hip-hop nerds. “Get Up Get Down” is a song from his upcoming Wave[s] album coming out August 21st.
