Letoya Luckett Performs National Anthem At Houston-Lakers Game

Grammy Award winning, chart-topping, platinum-certified superstar, songwriter and entrepreneur, LETOYA LUCKETT is set to sing the national anthem this Sunday, May 10th in her hometown of Houston, TX when the Houston Rockets square off with the Los Angeles Lakers for game 4 of the playoffs. The game airs today on ABC at 3:30 EST.

In addition, LETOYA is preparing to release her sophomore album LADY LOVE due on June 23rd on Capitol Records. Lady Love follows LeToya’s platinum self-titled debut that was released in 2006.

Already shaping up as the female anthem of 2009 is the album’s lead single, “Not Anymore.” Written and co-produced by Grammy Award-winning artist Ne-Yo, the track pulsates with empowering determination as LETOYA’s soulful voice reaches out to females who are “fed up” with straying boyfriends. “That drama, I don’t want it anymore,” she declares. “I dried my eyes and realize/I deserve somebody who treats me right.”

Born and raised in Houston, LETOYA (née Luckett) sang her first solo in church at the tender age of five. After meeting Beyoncé Knowles in elementary school, the pair later joined forces as members of Destiny’s Child. During LeToya’s seven-year stint, she co-wrote two of the group’s gold singles, “Bills Bills Bills” and “Say My Name,” and appeared on the group’s breakthrough album, “The Writing’s on the Wall.”

Not only is a talented singer, LETOYA’s a successful entrepreneur. She owns and operates two upscale women’s boutiques called Lady L. Now in its sixth year, the clothing store is located in Houston’s Uptown Park shopping center.

This summer, LETOYA LUCKETT will co-star in her first feature film debut; The Preacher’s Kid and is set to begin pre-production on a comedy from Lionsgate Films.
