Mr. Mecca Releases “Blaze Em Up” ft. Royce 5’9″ & Kid Vishus Off “The Cover Run” mix tape
NEW YORK, NY, May 22, 2008 – Abandoned Nation’s own Mr. Mecca releases the much-anticipated single, “Blaze Em Up” featuring Royce 5’9″ and Kid Vishus, the first shot from his upcoming mixtape “The Cover Run”.
Malik Rashawn, Jamaica, Queens-native, also known as Mr. Mecca, made a name for himself in the underground New York hip-hop scene not only as a formidable battle emcee but also as a live performer commanding stages and captivating audiences in various venues throughout the metropolis.
Mecca teamed up with the NYC based Hip-Hop Karaoke crew (www.hiphopkaraokenyc.com) to create his upcoming debut mixtape The Cover Run with features by popular recording artist like Charles Hamilton, SkyZoo, Donny Goines Sha Stimuli, as the first peek into the arsenal of beats and lyrics that are expected to explode onto the music scene. This single undoubtedly brings a new style and energy to the Hip-Hop stage.
“I just talk about real life on some real topic shit. We ain’t all thugs,” says Mecca. “I’ve punched many people in the face and never sold a drug in my life. I’ve seen the hardest gangstas laugh their asses off and eat cereal. Nobody is grinding it out 24 hours a day. There are other parts of the hood besides that and if you let me, I’ll show you.”
