James Chatburn Has A Video For Do Wanna Live Like That Feat. Noah Slee

James Chatburn’s video for “Do You Wanna Live Like That” featuring Noah Slee is the first look from his upcoming album. The Berlin by way of Australia-based singer takes to the camera with his band before ending the song solo. His penchant for R&B and ’70s soul is delivered with the calmness of a mystic and despite the title without judgment. Chatburn revealed the source of “Do You Wanna Live Like That” in a press statement:

“Do You Wanna Live Like That’ is a track I created which ended up kind of being a few different tracks in one, inspired by people like Tyler, The Creator with just these sudden drops and Sault with this vibe – simple not perfect, but just perfectly imperfect. Noah Slee and I have been friends basically since we both moved to Berlin, it just took 7 years but we finally got around to releasing a track together.”

Chatburn’s second album Late Night Howling comes out later this month and the party for it takes place on August 22nd in his adopted hometown. Tickets are on sale now and limited vinyl copies of the album can be pre-ordered.

James Chatburn reveals the first half of his debut album with Faible Teil 1. The singer released the singles “In My House,” “Jewellery and Gold” and “The Hurt” earlier this year. He explained the introspectiveness of Faible in a press release:

“For as long as I can remember before people spoke so openly about it, I had these issues with anxiety, I kind of wanted to explore these ‘weaknesses’ that we are all susceptible too. I mean the way I am wired led me to be quite insular and creative especially when I was in my teens. I now see how much of a strength it can be, it opened up my empathy and creativity and I think we all have these things we gotta talk through, if we talk about it we can band together and be stronger for it.”

Chatburn produced the album with David Tobias and they worked through his vision of hip-hop, soul and psychedelia.

Listen: James Chatburn: Jewellery And Gold

James Chatburn shares “Jewellery And Gold” ahead of his album release. The song is the second single from his upcoming debut Faible. Chatburn, who is a native of Australia based in Berlin, made a statement about “Jewellery And Gold”‘s creative blueprint.

“It started off as a noughties Pharrell/Neptunesy kind of vibe, but then I replaced the original synth with a piano and I decided to go for this throwback soul feeling, coming back to this Neptune’s vibe in part c. As an indie artist, I don’t live off much money, but sometimes I think, damn it would be nice to have a little more, even if I know that’s not gonna solve anything”

The warmth of Chatburn’s breathy tenor makes the prospect of receiving gems believably romantic. The singer released “In My House” earlier in the summer and Faible is scheduled to come out before the end of 2020.
