United Skates Looks At African-American Roller Rink History (Trailer)

[youtube id=”0BADk7n0x6A”]United Skates is a documentary from filmmakers Tina Brown and Dyana Winkler about the history of African-American skate culture. The pair start with the current skating world in Central Park and then leads the viewer into skate parties that take place through word of mouth around the country. The film is a tribute to the importance skating rinks served in the community as places for people to socialize and a place where many artists started their careers. Salt-N-Pepa are interviewed on camera about the cultural role of the skating rink in African-American communities. John Legend executive produced the film which will air on HBO Monday, February 18th at 8 PM ET.

The trailer is a quick overview of Rae’s character and her friends discovering themselves while trying to have relationships. There is just enough mystery to keep the questions coming about the plotline but fans want to know if Jay Ellis is coming back to the show. Season 3 of Insecure premieres August 12th on HBO. 




David Bowie: The Last Five Years HBO Trailer

[youtube id=”OwuuDpwPYxo”] David Bowie: The Last Five Years is an exclusive HBO documentary about Bowie’s music and his The Next Day and Blackstar albums. Friends and musicians who worked with Bowie discuss his lifetime of artistry and those last two albums which are companion pieces. Archival footage is also mixed into the storytelling about his music. He was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2015 but continued to work until his passing in 2016. Bowie was rare because of his overall achievements through the decades but who died still at his best as an artist. The documentary will air on HBO next year.
