Phat Kat’s J.Dilla-Produced Dedication To The Suckers Re-Released

Phat Kat’s Dedication To The Suckers has been remastered and re-released via The Netherlands Below System Records. The digital version is available now and the vinyl edition will come out soon. J.Dilla produced all six of the tracks on the 1999 EP. Phat Kat revealed in an interview that he and  Dilla completed the EP in three hours one night. Agor produced the 2015 Re-Dedication To The Suckers, which features Guilty Simpson and Elzhi. That release’s US and European digital versions will be available on September 29th. The vinyl copies of the EP will have Dedication To the Suckers on the A-side and the Re-Dedication of the Suckers (U.S. version)on the B-side. 




Young RJ Releases The Detroit Project

Young RJ is following his Blaq Royalty solo debut with The Detroit Project that features vocals from hometown veterans Guilty Simpson and Phat Kat. There are also appearances from B.R. Gunna, De La Soul and vocals from fallen heroes Proof and J.Dilla. Young RJ explained his plans for the music in a press release:

“I messed with Phat Kat and Guilty because they carry a pedigree in Detroit, we all talkin about my Nig**s struggling here in tha D, living in modern America is like hell for a man who is light brown or dark as the nighttime”

Young RJ, Phat Kat & Guilty Simpson Release I Know In Celebration Of Dilla Day

Slum Village’s Young RJ has released “I Know” featuring Guilty Simpson and Phat Kat in celebration of Dilla Day(February 7th). “I Know” details the plight of Black men in America dealing with the prison system and economic struggles. It is one of the songs from the collaborative album he is working on with both of the Detroit emcees. Young RJ just released his solo album Blaq Royalty and the Joyner Lucas-assisted single “Motion.”




Journalist 103-Felony Feat. Guilty Simpson & One Be Lo

Detroit rapper Journalist 103 has collaborated with fellow natives Guilty Simpson and One Be Lo on his new single “Felony.” The trio rap about the government corruption and racism on the DJ Stresh-produced song. Journalist 103 got on the radar of non-mainstream hip-hop fans when he worked with Apollo Brown and DJ Soko as one-third of  2010’s The Left project. Battle For The Hearts And Minds is his sophomore album coming out at the end of the month on Babygrande. Several Detroit rappers appear on the album including Clear Soul Forces, Nolan The Ninja, Willie The Kid and Marvwon.
