Gary Clark Jr.’s trailer for his Sonny Boy Slim album is an overview of the success he’s had in the music industry and high-profile gigs like playing for The Obamas. He credits hip-hop, classical, EDM and “whatever” as his influences and says that Sonny Boy Slim is inspired by faith and hope. And there is an explanation for the name Sonny Boy Slim coming from his childhood and time spent working under older musicians. Sonny Boy Slim comes out September 11th.

Afropunk has added more artists to the NYC festival taking place next month including Lauryn Hill, Sza, Gary Clark, Jr., Death Grips, Kelela, Vintage Trouble, Jesse Boykins III and Candiria. The first Afropunk Atlanta Festival will take place October 4th and October 5th. The scheduled performers are practically identical to the New York festival this year.
