P-Funk Keyboardist Bernie Worrell Has Cancer Diagnosis

Bernie Worrell, who is a founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic and has played on numerous classics from the band, has been diagnosed with stage-four liver and lung cancer. Worrell’s goal is to heal but also to release his Retrospectives album quickly before his health worsens. There is an Indiegogo campaign to raise $10,000 for the project with 2 weeks and about $500 to go.

“Ain’t That Funkin’ Kind Of Hard On You” is from Funkadelic’s 2014 First Ya Gotta Shake The Gate. Dance music legend Louie Vega remixed the song with a verse from Kendrick Lamar and it’s from his EP of the song’s remixes that came out today.

Boston house duo Soul Clap and Funkadelic released their four-song EP featuring Sly Stone on keys back in April. Gabe Munitz-Alessio directed the video for “In Da Kar” using live video and claymation to tell the ugly story of the oil industry.
