Erykah Badu Drops Next To You Produced By The Alchemist

Erykah Badu has released her first new single in six years with “Next To You,” which is produced by The Alchemist. The boom-bap-styled cut recycles the beat The Alchemist used on Mobb Deep’s “The Realest.” Badu riffs about wanting to spend time with her special person doing things like smoking blunts. The song has an AI generated visual and The Alchemist revealed that the single will appear on Badu’s first album in more than a decade, titled Abi & Alan. Badu just gave a concert in her Dallas hometown to celebrate Juneteenth.

Nick Hakim Will Perform On Erykah Badu’s Livestream Series Too.Sensitive

Nick Hakim will be the first artist to perform for Erykah Badu’s live stream series Too.Sensitive this Saturday. Badu has been dedicated to finding ways for performers to keep working during the pandemic starting with her well-received quarantine concert series. The artists will not be restricted to one genre as she will present whomever she feels is doing interesting things. Badu became a fan of Hakim’s after receiving a link to “Roller Skates” from Andre 3000 and from there she reached out to him on Instagram. She later found out that they wrote a lot of their songs in the same tonal ranges. This performance is also the formal introduction of her B’Dubya Streams (Badu World Streaming), Erykah’s production company and streaming platform. There will be specific merchandise for each performer available. Nick’s performance and Too.Sensitive will debut at 7 PM ET on BaduWorldMarket.com.

Nick Hakim’s sophomore album WILL THIS MAKE ME GOOD came out in May.Â
