Blood Orange-Sandra’s Smile

Blood Orange drops his video for “Sandra’s Smile” and it takes place in New York City with lots of singing on the corner and some street dancers. “Sandra’s Smile” is about Sandra Bland, who died in police custody under mysterious circumstances in Texas earlier this year. Blood Orange directed the video and there are appearances from Junglepussy, Waffle Crew and Ian Isiah. He has a show at the Apollo on December 12th as Blood Orange and Friends and the proceeds will go to the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music.

Dev Hynes Provides Piano Score For NYC And Ferguson Documentary

Dev Hynes improvised a piano score at the Brooklyn Academy of Music for a documentary about the protests taking place in Ferguson and NYC in response to the killings of Mike Brown and Eric Garner by officers Darren Wilson and Daniel Pantaleo who were not indicted. The Brown and Garner incidents are just two of an escalating epidemic of Black men being murdered for senseless reasons and their killers not being held accountable by the system.

Blood Orange continues his love of the ’80’s with the video for “You’re Not Good Enough” which is directed by Gia Coppola. He has also provided the soundtrack for Coppola’s first feature, Palo Alto. The clip was filmed as part of the Urban Outfitters video series.
