[youtube id=”z3xnWJGbx7o”] Last week the Q-Tip and Demi Lovato duet on a cover of Elton John’s “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” premiered online. The video is a ball culture-inspired piece highlighting gay Black male walkers in a cozy space with their supporters. The Elton John tribute album Revamp comes out April 6th. 

Q-Tip and Demi Lovato cover Elton John’s “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” for the John tribute album Revamp. Q-Tip had already paid tribute to John on A Tribe Called Quest’s We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service when they sampled “Bennie and the Jets” for “Solid Wall Of Sound.” Revamp is an album of Elton John and Bernie Taupin songs covered by a variety of singers including Mary J.Blige who also had “Bennie and the Jets” used on her song “Deep Inside.” Restoration is the other tribute album and it has a country music theme. Both collections will be released April 6th days before a Grammy tribute concert to John will air on April 10th.
