Common’s remix of “Kingdom” gets the added touch of Jay Electronica who rhymes about Nas, pyramids, survival and maintaining the spirit of hip-hop.

“Dear John” is MC Lyte’s collaboration with Common from her first album in 11 years due for release later this year. The song is a tribute to the struggles of Black men offering them upliftment and a theme for the #EducateOURMen scholarship initiative of MC Lyte’s Hip Hop Sisters Foundation. The foundation has already given away two 100,000 university scholarships and will gave away many more this year to send Black men to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The song will also be featured on Lyte’s upcoming episode of Being on Centric TV September 13th at 9PM EST.

Last night Common lead a moment of silence for Michael Brown and Ferguson, MO at the VMA’s. The unarmed 18-year old Brown who was shot and killed by a police officer two weeks ago was laid to rest today.
