It is one year and three months after Chynna’s passing and her last work drug opera will be released as she wished. The rappper from Philadelphia was working on the album when she died and her family is making sure the vision she had is shared with her fans. Today the first preview of the project is the gloomy “seasonal depression pt. 2.” The music is a direct line to the things going on in Chynna’s inner world. August 19th would have been her 27th birthday and drug opera will come out exactly one day after it. 

 

Philadelphia rapper and model Chynna Rogers died yesterday at the age of 25 from an accidental drug overdose. Rogers signed with the Ford modeling agency when she was 14. She soon fulfilled her rap aspiration and started working with late producer A$AP Yams. The meeting led to several collaborations and performances with ASAP Mob. As a solo artist, she released three EPs, including I’m Not Here, This Isn’t Happening and Music 2 Die 2. She became popular online with the release of her single “Glen Coco.” The young rapper talked about her addiction to drugs with Pitchfork in 2018. She eventually went to rehab and recovered. In her last Instagram post on Tuesday, she talked about needing “music to die to. “

Philadelphia’s Chynna Rogers is celebrating her upcoming August 19th birthday with “Leo Season.” Her soft vocals and quirky flow move fearlessly through the 48th Street-produced track. The Ford model last released music 2 die 2 months ago making “Leo Season” her first output for 2018.

Rapper and model Chynna Rogers saw the release of her Music 2 Die 2 Ep today. The Philly native said this about the project:

“I’m not as dark, as morbid, as depressed in every track, and not as angry and aggressive I think my energy has shifted. I feel like I’m speaking from more of a reflective state.”

The four-track collection is available from Honeymoon an imprint of 300. Rogers is going on a tour of the United States on October  5th.
