Kyemah McEntrye, who made a splash on the internet a few weeks ago for her Afrocentric prom dress, designed Naturi Naughton’s outfit for this year’s BET Awards. Naughton, who is an actress on the TV show Power, reached out to McEntyre after seeing her prom outfit because she wanted a dress to honor her African roots and to support a young person from her East Orange, New Jersey home town. McEntyre’s prom gown was the first dress she ever designed but it didn’t deter Naughton from seeking her services. Judging from responses on the internet Naughton’s dress was considered one of the highlight’s of BET’s red carpet. McEntyre has plans to attend the Parsons School Of Design and with these two dresses to her credit she is already primed to take on the work of a successful designer.
