Avery Sunshine shares the steamy “Heaven Is Right Here” features Mr. Talkbox and was co-written with Eric Roberson. Mr. Talkbox, who is on Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic album, is one of many guest artists on Twenty Sixty Four. Frank McComb, Keyon Harrold and pianist/arranger Ruslan Sirota all contribute to the Sunshine sound. Sunshine sums up “Heaven Is Right Here”;

“This song is a simple love song to remind everyone that when all in the world feels like hell, just find your way home and HEAVEN will be right there.”

Sunshine and her musical partner/husband Dana Johnson are currently touring their Twenty Sixty Four album.

Watch Avery Sunshine take over NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert space with a warm three-song mini concert. The charismatic Sunshine is celebrating her new album Twenty Sixty Four and marriage to guitarist/musical partner Dana “Big Dane” Johnson. Sunshine shares the funny story of how she received Johnson’s proposal a year ago and prayed for a union with him that would last until 2064.




Avery Sunshine Shares An Acoustic Version Of The Ice Cream Song From The Twenty Sixty Four Album

[youtube id=”ZCGcc4Dlmnc”] Avery Sunshine is getting ready for the release of their second album, Twenty Sixty Four which comes out this Friday.  Today they share an acoustic version of “The Ice Cream Song” and Sunshine sings her heart out about giving up ice cream and selling all of her shoes for her guitarist Dana Johnson who is now her husband.

Twenty Sixty Four is the first time the duo has worked with so many people on an album. Eric Roberson, Frank McComb, Carvin Haggins, Mr. Talkbox and trumpeter Keyon Harrold have writing and performance credits on Twenty Sixty Four.

Sunshine, who has always been candid about the spiritual component of her work, spoke on the new album:

“I am always striving to fill the space that I was created to fill. Everybody has their own fingerprint and we are all here for a reason. I believe the reason that I am here is to share the music that God has given me.”
Twenty Sixty Four will be available via the usual retail outlets this Friday and can be pre-ordered now.



Avery Sunshine Receives Women Of Impact Award

Avery Sunshine was honored with a Women Of Impact Award Sunday night at a private dinner hosted by Tunisha Brown, Chief of Impact Magazine. Brown celebrated the magazine’s 10th anniversary by honoring Sunshine and other influential women in the music industry including special guest Karen Civil. Sunshine was happy for the award and said, “I’m excited and grateful to be acknowledged for doing something that I feel that I’m supposed to do. She continued by saying “it makes me want to continue doing more.”

Sunshine released her most recent single, “Come, Do Nothing” last fall and she is getting ready to go on the Nu Soul Revival Tour on February 3rd. Musiq Soulchild is headlining the tour that features Kindred The Family Soul, Lyfe Jennings and select appearances in certain cities from Dwele, The Foreign Exchange and Chrisette Michele.
