Ava DuVernay Talks About Middle Of Nowhere

Ava DuVernay talks about her new film “Middle Of Nowhere” which makes her the first African-American woman to win the director’s award at the Sundance Film Festival. She is also the founder of the African-American Film Releasing Movement (AARM). “Middle Of Nowhere” comes to theaters October 12th.

Ava DeVernay’s “Middle of Nowhere” is an official selection at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The film maker describes the story as “A love story about love as a choice.” Omari Hardwick, who had a starring role in her last feature “I Will Follow,” works with DuVernay again. Emayatzy Corinealdi, Edwina Findley, Sharon Lawrence, Lorraine Toussaint and David Oyelowo round out the main players.

I Will Follow On DVD

Director Ava DuVernay’s critically acclaimed film “I Will Follow” is coming to DVD August 23rd. The film stars Salli Richardson and Omari Hardwick in an autobiographical story about the DuVernay’s relationship with her late aunt who passed away from cancer. You can pre-order it here.

“I Will Follow” opens today and it is a new film directed by Ava DuVernay about the loss of her aunt. The film stars Salli Richardson-Whitfield and Omari Hardwick in a story that revolves around the 12 visits Richardson receives on the day she moves out of the home she shared with her aunt. This is DuVernay’s second film her first being the award-winning hip-hop documentary “This Is The Life.” The former publicist has already taken her film-making itch beyond directing and created the African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement to distribute two independent African-American films per year starting with “I Will Follow.” The film can be seen in select AMC Theatres.
