Annahstasia is going on a tour of North America in support of her Tether debut album. The singer also shares her latest single from Tether called “Silk and Velvet.” The gentle acoustic piece is an ode to the problematic pursuit of stardom. She says, ‘Silk and Velvet’ is a nod to the 4th wall between performer and consumer. Dream and reality. I understand that much of the time I am a hypocrite and there are limited strides that I can make in absolving that – while still chasing this dream I have. So instead of attempting to hide the elephant in the room, I need a song that expressed it plainly.” “Silk and Velvet” is one example of the soul mining that took place when Annahstasia crafted the album. Her stunning vocals, which brings to mind jazz singer Cassandra Wilson, gives her folk tunes an earthy sophistication. She surprised fans last week with a cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s video for “luther.” Watch the visual for “Silk and Velvet,” and tour tickets are on sale now. Tether will come out on June 13th and the tour starts June 4th in New Orleans.
