Amerigo Gazaway’s latest pairing is a blues and hip-hop meeting between B.B.King and UGK and he calls it B.B. & The Underground Kingz: The Trill Is Gone. Gazaway makes the connection between the blues and hip-hop and he blends King’s road stories with UGK’s storytelling to show the philosophic continuum between the two. The Trill Is Gone comes out October 5th but you download the first single, “The Trill Is Gone Featuring Mr. 3-2 And Ronnie Spencer” here.

Amerigo Gazaway’s James Brown tribute draws from a variety of voices to reflect Brown’s influence on modern music. Bob Marley, Mobb Deep, Fela and Nas are a few of the artists Gazaway uses in this third project from The Big Payback series that has first and second volumes from DJ Scratch and J.Period. The Big Payback Vol. 3 J.B. and The Soul Mates came out today.

Amerigo Gazaway’s second installment in his Yasiin Gaye project, The Return (Side Two) is now available for download. Gazaway used Gaye’s early sampling in his production work as inspiration. His liner notes break down the anatomy of each song with corresponding anecdotes. The Brooklyn meets Motown vibe gets injected by a humorous cartoon drawn by Drew Dernavich which pokes fun at the RIAA’s stance on copyrights.
