Alex Harris Returns With Better Featuring Conya Doss

Alex Harris

Alex Harris and Conya Doss have linked to duet on one of the best love songs this year with “Better.” Harris’s rich vocals are matched by Doss’s sweet tone in a deeply soulful dance that recalls the classic past connections of Marvin and Tammi and Method and Mary. The tenderness between the two of them in song is held together by a warm acoustic guitar in an arrangement courtesy of Harris’s brother Swagg and Brandon Williams. The two of them sing their praises for a true romantic love with the affection of a longtime couple still falling for each other. “Better” will be included on Harris’s sophomore album scheduled for an early 2026 release. The singer is excited about the next release because music is more than entertainment for him. He says, “My calling and mission are to utilize my God-given gift of music to inspire humanity. I believe the shared experience of the Gospel Church is part of the ‘secret ingredient’ to authentic soul music. The essence of this album is imbued with the intention to uplift, inspire, and heal. It’s a celebration of life and the myriad emotions we all experience.”

Alex Harris Talks Back To Us

Alex Harris is a soul singer from Manchester, Georgia. His debut album, Back To Us, is a collection of timeless songs that veer into multiple genres like R&B and country. Vocally, he has the kind of chops reminiscent of the greats that came before him including Al Green and Johnnie Taylor. In this interview with Kick Mag, he talks about his musical beginnings and the process behind Back To Us

Alex Harris Emerges With Back To Us Debut Album

Singer Alex Harris comes through with his debut album Back To Us via the Shanachie imprint. Harris’ molten soul reflects his gospel conviction as the son of a pastor, country music, and Stax Records. At times his baritone projects a lot like the late soul star Johnnie Taylor who was a Stax artist for most of his career. “I’ve Got Dreams To Remember” and “Lose My Religion” have some of Taylor’s verve. The comparisons don’t stop there because he pulls from Al Green’s tone when he sings “Way Up.” “Millionaire” should benefit from Beyoncé’s reclamation of country music’s Black origins. Ruby Amanfu, Monofonics, and Sam Ashworth join Harris on the album that was recorded in Nashville. Harris has tapped into the city’s music history and neighboring Memphis to produce a pure but contemporary tribute to the sounds pioneered there in the ’60s and ’70s. Back To Us is trend-free and firmly rooted in its celebration of Americana R&B.

Alex Harris Shares Millionaire From Debut Album

Singer Alex Harris offers the first sound from his debut album with his version of “Millionaire.” The Manchester, Georgia native covers Kevin Welch’s composition with gospel, country, and soul in his sinewy vocals. Harris’s conviction is rooted in his upbringing in the Pentecostal church and the guidance of his reverend father and mother who is an educator. Back To Us is the name of his album that soaked up a lot of the country music influences in the air while being recorded in the genre’s capital of Nashville, Tennesse. The artist, who also founded the Arts Conservatory For Teens in St. Petersburg, Florida, wants his music to inspire and improve the lives of his listeners. He says,

“My calling and mission are to utilize my God-given gift of music to inspire humanity. I believe the shared experience of the Gospel Church is part of the ‘secret ingredient’ to authentic soul music. The essence of this album is imbued with the intention to uplift, inspire, and heal. It’s a celebration of life and the myriad emotions we all experience.”

Back To Us will be released on April 12th via the Shanachie label.
