[youtube id=”GdAjETiwtSk”]  Thursday night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in Manhattan some of the artists from the Hamilton mixtape performed their songs. Black Thought and Joell Ortiz performed “My Shot” and were followed by Regina Spektor, Andra Day, Ja Rule and Ashanti.

thehamiltonmixtapehqLin-Manuel Miranda’s Grammy and Pulitzer-winning Hamilton musical now has an official mixtape. Dave East, Nas, Queen Latifah, Miguel and Busta Rhymes are some of the artists who appear on the tape. The show recently became even more popular after vice-president-elect Mike Pence attended and was directly addressed by the cast about upholding ideals of equality when he starts his new job. Despite Donald Trump’s demand for an apology to Pence from the cast, Pence said their stance is what “freedom sounds like.”   Tickets for Hamilton are sold out until August 2017.

The Broadway musical has become a pop culture phenomenon with all the accolades from multiple Tony nominations, a Grammy, a Pulitzer and a performance at the White House. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s production inspired by Ron Chernow’s book on Alexander Hamilton’s life now has a mixtape that is scheduled for a December 2nd release.
