Media Questions Of The Week
1. Isn't it cool that the custom-made Maybach from the Jay-Z and Kanye West video for "Otis" will be auctioned off so that the proceeds go to the East African drought disaster? Especially when we know that some rappers would try to drive the car through their old neighborhoods?
2. Why is the Association of Black Women Historians upset about the portrayal of maids in "The Help" but not about all the other faulty portrayals of Black women in Hollywood?

3. How should Black women feel about Tyrese’s statement that the lack of Black women in his video for “I Gotta Chick” was due to the other women being “the best” ?
Stimulus and Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave To Release Free Mix-tape on September 12th, First Single W/ Bilal Out Today
(August 11, 2011 – Brooklyn, NY) Drummer Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave and DJ/emcee Stimulus have joined forces for their first collaborative Mix-tape 3rd 1st Impression. The project will be self-released via free download on September 12th. The Mix-tape is produced entirely by Chris Dave and features Stimulus on the mic, Chris Dave on the drums, and features from Bilal, Renee Neufville, Stokley (of Mint Condition), Casey Benjamin and Screechy Dan.
Both Chris Dave and Stimulus have made impressions on fans in a stunning array of capacities. Some may know Chris Dave as the drummer for Mos Def, others know him as Maxwell’s Grammy-winning producer, and still others know his as a key component in the jazz/hip-hop group The Robert Glasper Experiment. Some may know Stimulus for his DJ mix of Raphael Saadiq’s music, which garnered over 140k plays, others know him for his 1st single with Nickodemus and Turntables on The Hudson, and still others know his as the leader of the weekly Real Live Show NY jams, which drew guest drop-ins from Bilal, Roy Hargrove, N’Dea Davenport and more. For this project, both Chris Dave and Stimulus flex their musical prowess in ways that may be new to some listeners; Chris Dave as a producer and Stimulus as an emcee, thus providing a “3rd 1st Impression” for all their fans.
Combining the poly-rhythm independence of jazz drummer Tony Williams with the head nod grooves of late hip-hop producer J Dilla, Chris Dave is one of the most revered and in demand musicians of his generation. As a producer, he brings this same sensibility to the boards. He has produced tracks for Maxwell and Dr. Dre and brings his feel for jazz, hip-hop, house to this project with stand-out tracks “Full Grown ft. Bilal & Renee Neufville” and “Bad Habits.” Emcee Stimulus is a member of the well-known NY-based live band The Real Live Show and his music has been featured on Showtime and a Pontiac commercial. For this project, Stimulus steps into his own as an emcee taking on relationships, his career, love, and more.
