Mariah Carey is known for her impressive multi-octave vocal range and her unique whistle as well as for her demands (which she calls “comfort”), her precious ways and her obsession with butterflies. Carey is also known for breaking records.

Prince Added To Coachella

Prince will make what is believed to be his first U.S. festival appearance ever at Coachella later this month. Organizers confirmed today that the artist will headline the Saturday (April 26) lineup, joining previously announced headliners Jack Johnson (April 25) and Roger Waters (April 27).

Kanye West, Gnarls Barkley To Headline Lollapalooza ’08

Grammy-award winning artists Kanye West and Gnarls Barkley are set to headline this year’s Lollapalooza music festival in Texas on August 1-3.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, West and Barkley will join rock giants Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, The Raconteurs and Wilco as headliners on the main stage at the Austin, Texas weekend-long music festival. Although, the official announcements of the acts are not scheduled to release until Monday (April 7), industry sources have confirmed the star-studded lineup.

Jay-Z Signs Deal With Live Nation

LOS ANGELES — In a move that reflects the anarchy sweeping the music business, the superstar rapper Jay-Z, who released his latest album to lukewarm sales five months ago, is on the verge of closing a deal with a concert promoter that rivals the biggest music contracts ever awarded.

Jay-Z plans to depart his longtime record label, Def Jam, for a roughly $150 million package with the concert giant Live Nation that includes financing for his own entertainment venture, in addition to recordings and tours for the next decade. The pact, expected to be finalized this week, is the most expansive deal yet from Live Nation, which has angled to compete directly with the industry’s established music labels in a scrum over the rights to distribute recordings, sell concert tickets, market merchandise and control other aspects of artists’ careers.
