Zion I & The Grouch Ready Sophomore Album, Announce Upcoming Tour
(February 22, 2011 – Brooklyn, NY) West Coast hip-hop stalwarts Zion I & The Grouch return with their sophomore collaborative LP, Heroes In The Healing Of The Nation. The album, which is the follow-up to the group’s critically acclaimed Heroes In The City Of Dope released in 2006, will be released March 22, 2011. Zion I & The Grouch, known for addressing weighty issues in their respective careers, will donate 100% of all ticketing fees sold through ZioniAndTheGrouch.com to local community organizations in each of the tour’s 24 cities.
Zion I & The Grouch have been leaders marching to the beat of their own 808’s for some time now, but with Heroes In The Healing Of The Nation the trio suggest that we’re all cut from the same cloth. “Anyone changing other people’s lives for the better is a hero to me,” explains The Grouch of the album’s title. “People are going through a difficult transition these days,” adds Zumbi. “We want this album to aid in that process.”
With Zion I producer Amp Live providing the bulk of the beats for the album, Zumbi and The Grouch are at their lyrical finest, pontificating the ups and downs of everyday life. In addition to Amp Live contributing a rare vocal performance on “Healing Of The Nation,” the trio bring a variety of collaborators into the mix, as Heroes in the Healing of the Nation features an array of musical brethren, including Freeway, Fashawn, Casual, Mystic, Eric of Rebelution, Jacob Hemphill of Soja, Eligh, Marty James, Los Rakas, Codany Holiday, and the R.O.D Project.
To coincide with the forthcoming album, Zion I & The Grouch are excited to announce their upcoming tour, Heroes In The Healing Of The Nation. The nationwide tour, featuring opening acts Blu, The Jacka, and The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, will kick off March 19 at the historic Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, hitting 24-cities before winding down at the end of April. As part of the tour, Zion I & The Grouch have decided to partner with a number of charities in each city, and will donate 100% of all ticketing fees sold through ZioniAndTheGrouch.com to the local community organizations. “Touching people with our music is the main thing we can do,” explains The Grouch of the motive behind the donations, “but contributing in a monetary way is taking things to the next level.”
