Eminem To Induct Run-D.M.C. Into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Daryl Hall And John Oates To Sing On Tomorrow’s Dancing With The Stars

Duo will perform #1 hit “Maneater” on this Tuesday’s (3/24) edition of top-rated show

LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2009—The Stars will be Dancing to the music of Daryl Hall and John Oates this week. The best-selling pop-rock duo of all time will perform their #1 hit single, “Maneater,” on this Tuesday’s edition of ABC’s hit series Dancing with the Stars The Results Show, March 24 at 9 p.m. (ET).

The song, from their 1982 album H2O, which has been certified double-platinum by the R.I.A.A. for selling more than two million copies in the U.S., is one of seven Daryl Hall and John Oates albums to go platinum, along with the duo’s six gold albums and total of 29 Top 40 hits.

Daryl Hall and John Oates’ live rendition of “Maneater” will be accompanied by performances from professional dancers Karina Smirnoff, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani and Dmitry Chaplin on the show, which will feature the samba and the fox trot, as well as the elimination of a second couple from the competition. DETROIT, March 24, 2009 — Funk rock trendsetters N.E.R.D. will headline the AT&T Block Party on Friday, April 3, the first of three days of free music concerts at The Big Dance, as part of the 2009 NCAA Men’s Final Four weekend in Detroit.

Blending hip hop, R&B, soul, and alternative rock to produce two top 10 albums in the U.S., N.E.R.D. is the brainchild of legendary producers Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. As the record production duo The Neptunes, Williams and Hugo have redefined pop and hip hop music over the last decade, winning two Grammys for their work with Justin Timberlake and collaborating with acts like Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Nelly.

Today’s announcement makes complete the headline entertainment lineup for the three days of The Big Dance, which starts on Friday, April 3 and runs through Sunday, April 5 at the Detroit Riverfront (just east of the Renaissance Center).

The AT&T Block Party starts at 11 a.m. and wraps up at 10:30 p.m. on April 3.

In addition, pop star and singer/songwriter Jesse McCartney will perform on the AT&T Block Party stage. An accomplished songwriter, McCartney also has recorded three Billboard 200 top 15 albums since exploding on the pop scene with his platinum debut album Beautiful Soul in 2004. Detroit fans will remember him best from his performance of his top 10 hit “Leavin’” at halftime of the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving game on November 27, 2008.

“The addition of AT&T’s performers rounds out an outstanding weekend of music and entertainment for all ages at The Big Dance,” said Greg Shaheen, NCAA senior vice president for basketball and business strategies. “The Big Dance features some of the biggest names in music. We’re excited to have an event that offers music fans across all genres a wonderful opportunity to see established stars in concert free of charge.”

In addition to national music, The Big Dance will feature some of Detroit’s best local bands performing on two stages throughout the three days.
