Yasiin Bey’s 2009 The Ecstatic has a deluxe reissue with additional music. The eclectic album with production from Madlib, J.Dilla, The Neptunes, and more with a global sonic footprint is being reintroduced 17 years later. He even snuck Slick Rick in for an appearance. Bey’s fourth solo album was embraced by his core audience and has retained favor with fans. The deluxe reissue reintroduces The Ecstatic and presents another opportunity for it to reach new ears. As a soloist, Black on Both Sides is always cited, but The Ecstatic and his feverish rock jaunt, The New Danger, deserve the same amount of attention. The deluxe version has added flavor with two additional songs, “The Size” and “The Tournament,” with production from Oh No and Preservation. There is a 120-page photo book to add to the package, making it essential.
