Ego Ella May releases the video for “Sister” off of her sophomore album, Good Intentions. May has a conversation outside with her real-life sibling in the short clip. They welcome each other back from a trip with May’s jazz meets R&B sound that would make her fellow country woman, Sade, proud. May shared a statement about the path to Good Intentions. “For a long time these songs were just small ideas moving quietly through my days. A melody that arrived while I was walking somewhere. A line that stayed with me long enough to write down. Little fragments that didn’t know yet what they were becoming.” The album is inspired by her favorite authors: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Patti Smith, Chinua Achebe, Ayobami Adebayo, and Joan Didion. Good Intentions is out and available via the usual streaming platforms.
