In celebration of National Reading Month, entrepreneur and literacy advocate Reginald Braxton is expanding his “I Love to Read” program to empower students across the country. As the CEO of All N All Supplies, Braxton is sponsoring the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) Essay and Oratorical Contest, awarding cash prizes to student scholars who showcase excellence in both reading and public speaking.
This contest is a key piece of the rapidly growing “I Love to Read” initiative, which is actively partnering with school districts in Detroit, New York, and Denver. The goal is to build reading comprehension, boost classroom engagement, and instill unshakeable confidence in students through motivational learning experiences.
Transforming Reading from a Requirement to a Lifestyle
Educators nationwide agree that developing strong reading habits is crucial at every educational stage—from early pre-K literacy all the way to the critical thinking required in high school. Programs like “I Love to Read” reinforce these essential skills by offering real-world recognition and celebrating academic victories.
“Reading isn’t just fundamental, it’s transformational,” says Reginald Braxton. “When students see reading as part of their identity, it strengthens their confidence and opens the door to opportunity. National Reading Month reminds us that this work extends far beyond 30 days. It’s about building a generation of thoughtful readers who understand the power of their own voice.”
All N All Supplies is an educational resource company that creates motivational materials for inspirational learning brands. Their portfolio features the “It’s a Lifestyle” platform and the “I Love to Read” program. Braxton was inspired to launch the initiative following a profound childhood experience with his father, aiming to help students view reading as a core part of their identity rather than just homework. This personal mission has now evolved into a national movement, and Braxton recently discussed the impact of literacy on student identity and family bonds in a feature with Authority Magazine.
Empowering Detroit Student Scholars
For this year’s National Reading Month, the “I Love to Read” program has proudly partnered with the DPSCD Essay and Oratorical Contest. Students are submitting original essays and delivering live presentations, proving that reading and writing are vital tools for leadership and self-expression. By awarding cash prizes to the top scholars, Braxton is ensuring that academic success receives the exact same level of celebration as athletic or extracurricular achievements.
“Detroit Public Schools Community District remains committed to ensuring students meet rigorous literacy standards across reading, writing, and speaking,” states Cassie Williams, Executive Director of DPSCD. “Structured writing and oratorical experiences allow students to demonstrate comprehension, critical thinking, and effective communication. We celebrate with our ‘I Love to Read’ partners who help us fulfill this critical mission.”
The initiative is also expanding its Detroit footprint by teaming up with Schools for New Paradigm for Education. Dr. Kimberly Bland, Chief of Schools for the network, adds, “Helping students see reading as both an academic skill and a source of pride helps cultivate curiosity, intellectual capacity, and a lifelong love of learning.”
Expanding the Mission to Denver and Brooklyn
The program’s motivational impact is spreading beyond the Midwest:
-
Denver Public Schools: “I Love to Read” is bringing engaging educational kits to Colorado. Dr. Adella Arrendondo, Executive Director of Denver Public Schools, notes that these resources “help connect students, schools, and families around learning,” making reading both meaningful and enjoyable.
-
New York City (Community School District 23): In Brooklyn, the initiative is actively fostering a culture of literacy. Dr. Ronda E. Phillips, Executive Director for District 23, praises the program for providing “engaging opportunities for students to explore a variety of texts while celebrating their progress and achievements.”
By combining high-quality educational resources with motivational branding, Braxton and the All N All Supplies team are helping schools create an environment where literacy leads to lifelong opportunity and leadership.
