Thundercat has connected with Lil Yachty for “I Did This To Myself,” which is on his upcoming fifth album, Distracted. The quirky single is typical Thundercat: smooth, self-aware, and funky. He laughs at himself after they accept rejection from an Instagram girl. Thundercat’s series of bass grooves and Yachty’s rap narration hook you in, and it’s another head-nodding session. WILLOW, A$AP Rocky, Tame Impala, and Channel Tres also pop up on Distracted. Thundercat is also unveiling a never-heard-before collaboration with the late Mac Miller. Flying Lotus, who helped produce “I Did This To Myself,” is part of the production team for Distracted that also includes Kenny Beats, The Lemon Twigs, and Greg Kurstin. As for the title, he says, “Sometimes you need to be distracted to focus in a different way.” Distracted comes out April 3rd on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder.
