Public Enemy has remade their “He Got Game” from Spike Lee’s 1998 film of the same name and turned it into “She Got Game.” The new version is a celebration of women in music and sports. The song was released on February 4th, National Girls and Women in Sports Day and the proceeds will benefit the Women’s Sports Foundation and the Black Music Action Coalition’s Female Fund. ” She Got Game” is performed by an all-star band that includes Cindy Blackman Santana on drums, bass player Blu DeTiger, Grace Bowers on guitar, Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel on strings, basketball star and rapper Flau’jae, and additional vocals from Retina MC and the USA Olympic Women’s Water Polo team.

Public Enemy’s original recording was for the Denzel Washington-starring film. They were inspired to do it again because of Flavor Flav’s sponsorship of the U.S. Women’s Olympic Water Polo Team in 2024 and his support of women athletes. Flavor Flav was visible during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and will continue to be an official sponsor and hype man for the USA Bobsled & Skeleton teams at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina. According to scientific performance data conducted by Acura, Olympic bobsled athlete Kaysha Love performed nearly 10% better during practice runs when Flavor Flav was present. “She Got Game” should have enough power in its encouragement to drown out any naysayers projecting doubt on women who play sports, music, or any other ambitious pursuit.
