Ari Lennox just released her third album, Vacancy, through her new label home, Interscope, and is going on a tour of North America in support of it. The 15-song jazz embossed set has Lennox singing about love, sex, the stars, and cheating partners. She emotes and spreads her vocal strength best with “Dreaming,” Hocus Pocus,” and “Mobbin In DC.” Her team of producers, including Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Camper, support Lennox’s soprano with arrangements that range from ’90s R&B and pop to Motown. There is something new sonically with the reggae rhythm of “Company” with her lone collaborator, Buju Banton. The move from the rookie energy of Shea Butter Baby to the sophomore sensuality of age/sex/location makes it clear that Vacancy is Lennox’s most symmetrical offering. The North American tour starts in April, and tickets will go on sale Friday. Citibank card members can order tickets now.
