Annahstasia announces her debut album, Tether, and releases the video for “Villian.” Her haunting but sultry performance that gives off  Cassandra Wilson takes place in Oaklahoma with the rarely talked-about Black rodeo community. A member guides her on a horse ride while the song about self-revival plays in the background. The singer, songwriter, and visual artist explained the point of “Villian” in a press statement. “We are all made of both shadow and light. From some angle, we have all been the villain of the story; we are all trying our best, negotiating survival.” Tether was recorded live in Los Angeles at the storied Valentine Studios. Producers Andrew Lappin, Jason Lader, and Aaron Liano, who have collectively worked with Cassandra Jenkins, Frank Ocean, and Lana Del Rey, worked on Tether. Obongjayar and aja monet make guest appearances on the album that follows Annahstasia’s Surface Tension EP released in 2024. Tether comes out June 13th via drink sum wtr.
